The Brain Injury Clinic provides neuro-rehabilitation and expert care in the community for people suffering from communication, cognitive or swallowing problems following an injury to their brain or following a diagnosis of a neurological illness.

LISA HARRIS BSc MRCSLT
The Brain Injury Clinic was founded in Guildford, Surrey in 2004 by Consultant Speech, Language and Cognitive Therapist Lisa Harris. Lisa is highly experienced in Neuro-rehabilitation. Since qualifying in 1995 she has held posts at St George’s Hospital, Atkinson Morley, and the Wolfson Medical Rehabilitation Cente, London. She has been head of department of two neurological rehabilitation units, Unsted Park and The Brain Injury Centre; as well as a clinical tutor at City University, London.
Lisa assists The London Neurosurgery Partnership team at the Harley Street Clinic, London, in their awake craniotomy procedures, providing intra-operative assessment and rehabilitation.
She has a special interest in aphasia and cognitive communication disorder, and is an advisor to the Stroke Assocation for Aphasia. She is involved in two national projects to improve the lives of those affected by communication and cognitive difficulties in affiliation with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Lisa is dedicated to the treatment and support of patients suffering from a communication disorder in the community. She specialises in the treatment and care of patients who have had a stroke, brain tumour, head injury, Parkinson‘s or Motor Neurone disease.

In 2019 Claire Axton started working in partnership with The Brain Injury Clinic.
Claire is a highly experienced Speech & Language Therapist specialising in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders that result from neurological conditions. From 2010, Claire worked across neuro-rehabilitation, stroke and neuro-oncology at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. She now heads up the development of the Awake Craniotomy SLT service at St George’s Hospital, London, supporting adults with brain tumours through their awake brain surgeries.
Claire has a passion for supporting adults with communication disorders to participate in conversation and management of their own health. She has presented patient experience data nationally and co-produced written health information specifically designed to be accessible to people with communication disorders..
Claire is available to see patients in their homes in the London area and for those further afield or overseas an online service using Skype is available.
